Dental Bridge

Dental bridges serve as a tooth replacement. To be more precise, they can replace a single lost tooth or a row of teeth.

Dental Bridge

This device actually "bridges the gap" in your smile, as the name suggests. Bridges made to order by dentists can be painted to resemble your own teeth.

A dental bridge is made up of several components:

  • Abutments- The components that hold up your dental bridge are called abutments. The word can also refer to the tiny connection posts used in bridges supported by dental implants, even though it is most commonly used to describe natural teeth.
  • Pontics- Artificial, or false, teeth called pontics are used to close the space created by missing teeth.
Abutments and pontics may be present in your bridge, depending on your circumstances and the type of bridge you are given.

When Should You Get A Dental Bridge?

Make an appointment with your dentist in the following situations:
  • Your bridge appears to be cracked or is loose.
  • You have pain when chewing.
  • You develop teeth sensitivity or sore, bleeding gums.
What is the benefit of Dental Bridge?
  • Provide a tooth loss treatment that looks natural.
  • Restore the ability to chew and communicate (losing teeth can make it hard to eat or talk).
  • Stop nearby teeth from erupting into the space left by a lost tooth.
Aftercare of Dental Bridge
  • Brush and floss daily
  • Use a nonabrasive fluoride toothpaste
  • Using floss threaders or interproximal brushes—tiny brushes designed to fit in between your teeth—clean beneath your bridge once a day.
  • Avoid extremely hard or chewy foods
  • Don’t chew on ice, pens, pencils or your fingernails
  • Visit your dentist regularly for checkups and cleanings
